concept

Ana reached out to me requesting some new portraits for social media before she jetted off to Europe for the summer. She wanted to spotlight her handmade dress and new hair cut as well as show a bit of baddie energy to mix things up online before she started her exciting new adventure. I chose Castle Island for it’s sprawling greenery, sea facing view, and historical aura. I brought along a gold and white trimmed mirror to play with reflection shots since this was a new look for her, it could symbolize letting go off past identities and falling in love with the new evolution of ones self. I asked her to pose with movement and not statically change from one position to the next but rather to move through them like a dance. When editing these photos I channeled a bit of Frida Kahlo meets polly pocket, old combined with new, and celebrated her Spanish heritage and craftsmanship with dark and grainy black and white edits but also crisp, bright, and sweet with green and yellow undertones.
