concept

This was my very first shoot with Jessi. I saw them share a beautiful make up look online and instantly wanted to build a photoshoot around it. The look featured here is that very look, and from it I built the story of capturing a curious fairy playing at the boundary of her world and the human realm. Eventually she notices you and begins to perform for you. I found the location on my walk to work and thought it perfect for the theme, slightly abandoned and slowly being taken over by nature but still filled with evidence of human presence. I took a strong lead directing Jessi in poses from the angle of their body to the shape of their hands. At a certain point I had them dance for me and followed them capturing the movement mid motion. I wanted the mood invoked to be whimsical, magical, playful, and curious all at once.
