concept

This shoot was really interesting because I didn’t have a clear vision of what I wanted to create, just small elements I knew I wanted present. The main mission was to create for fun, as I’d been doing nothing but very corporate or simple shoots lately where I had little to no creative freedom. The children’s park we shot at is right next to my house and every day I walk by it to go to work. What caught my creative eye were the twin spider-weblike climbing structures and I knew I eventually wanted to do something with that. My favorite thing to do in shoots is have a stark contrast between the fit and the environment, so I thought doing something very fancy with lots of lace and movement could be cool to see against a child’s playground. Extremely sexy and mature vs the playfulness and innocence of childhood. I sent Kaline(the model and my best friend) a moodboard for inspiration on how to dress and let her do the rest styling wise. She went more Victorian than I expected but I loved it, and she even utilized a curtain to get some fun layers and movement.

While editing these photos I wanted it to be both dramatically stylized while also having a moody vintage feel to it. So I created two different versions. One more focused and sharp with high saturation and crisp contrast whilst the other was grained over and yellow toned for that film photo vibe. As a finished product I think it’s giving freshly arisen Victorian vampire exploring human civilization while also having the vibe of the photos you show to your future kids to prove you were hot.
