concept
I have always been drawn to dark, gothic, and horror in style, movies, and art. I bought a pair of red light bulbs and wanted to see what kind of mood I could create. I originally thought it would be very sexual but it quickly turned into moody and spooky which I loved even more. I used one of my sheer shirts and had Katy play with it over her face, aiming to almost look like asphyxiation. I loved the depth the red lighting gave and also took away. We also played with reflections in the mirror, my bathroom was very tiny so we could not do too many poses or extend far as it would take her out of the frame. So we focused on small corners which wound up being even cooler, making Katy appear much farther than she was, as if you were seeing her down a hazy dream like tunnel. I asked her to look almost pained in most shots as I leaned further into the horror theme, I wanted it to feel psychological, like she was a tormented specter.
