concept

My cousin Rae is one of my biggest creative inspirations and sweetest souls on this planet. I’ve wanted to do a photoshoot for them for the longest but as they’re a nomad and as I’m chronically stuck in the states it’s really hard for our paths to cross. Luckily I finally got to see them during my trip to New York at the start of this year and we were able to create. They weren’t feeling the greatest physically this day and were struggling to feel sexy and in the mood for this kind of boudoir shoot, so I threw on some bad gyal music and hyped them up best I could, allowing plenty of time for breaks and rest in between poses. They started feeling the vibes and before they knew it were slaying every shot.

I particularly love this boudoir shoot because it shows representation of a queer, disabled, neurodivergent, and multi ethnic body in a setting where you usually only see a skinny, cis het, neuro typical and able bodied caucasian woman. One of my passions is using photography to show more representation and create safe spaces for queer and neurodivergent bodies like my own, so being able to do so with a family member meant the world to me.
