concept

Your typical birthday shoot but not. Instead of renting a studio we decided to save money and shoot inside my bedroom. I put up black backdrops over my walls and used my white comforter to introduce dark romantic vibes to the atmosphere. I also decided to use different sources of light, the camera’s flash, a red lamp, and a tri color sun lamp to have more dynamic coloring and enhance the gothic sensual vibes. Sasha brought roses and cake to use as props(the cake she ate later) but the roses fully completed the charming and intimate mood balanced perfectly with her bold red lip and black dress. We channeled many different vibes in this shoot, of course the traditional celebratory birthday shots but also whimsical lover and sad tumblr girl. It was interesting to see how many different shots could be captured in the same small space with limited materials.
